Black Breastfeeding Week Celebration and Photoshoot:
August 26, 2023

In recognition of Black Breastfeeding Week (August 25-31), BIPOC for Better Birth (BBB) is hosting our 3rd annual "Black Breastfeeding Week Celebration and Photoshoot." The purpose of this event is to promote the benefits of human milk and lactation and provide a space for BIPOC pregnant and breast/chestfeeding people to build community.

In an effort to normalize breastfeeding in our community, we will host a gathering in at Hessel Pavilion in Champaign, IL on Saturday August 26th from 11 AM to 1 PM. We will have giveaways, activities for kids, information about local lactation resources, light refreshment, our promotional sponsors, an opportunity to meet other Black breastfeeding parents from across Central Illinois. Shelby Springer, doula and birth photographer, will provide latch portraits for BIPOC people who are currently pregnant and/or breastfeeding. Sign up HERE for a mini photography session featuring you and your nursling and be sure to stay until the end of our event for a group photo!
